Hand coloured prints from Charles D'Orbigny's 'Dictionaire Universel D'Histoire Naturelle', first published in 1849. One of the best illustrated natural history works of the mid nineteenth century with plates by many of the leading french artists of the day - Travies, Mounier, Oudart, Blanchard and others. With original hand colouring these plates, on heavy, good quality paper with a slightly cream finish, are in excellent condition.
